2018 NECPA IPEC Collaborative Care Summit
Initial Proposal Due December 10th!
Purpose and Overview
The NECPA IPEC is providing grant funding for development of curricular content to be used
at the 2018 Collaborative Care Summit to be held Tuesday, April 3rd, 2018.
Since 2009, the Summit has been the centerpiece activity of the NECPA IPEC’s mission
to advance interprofessional education in our region. The Summit brings together
several hundred students from many health professions.
The theme for the 2018 Summit is Substance Abuse Disorder.
Individuals who are chosen to develop the content will receive a $1,000 honorarium.
The Summit is a 3-hour learning experience (5-8 pm). In previous years, the summit included a large group opening session (45-60 min), small interprofessional team discussions (90 minutes) and a wrap up (15-30 min minutes). The small team discussions are the most important part of the day since it provides learners the opportunity to engage with different professions.
Applicants may wish to review the facilitator guide which could be considered an example of the end product for this proposal. Content from the 2017 Summit is available HERE. The 2015 instructor guide be reviewed HERE. Please note, this is not what is expected for the December 10th submission (see proposal information below).
Historically, the content of the Summit is case-based though this is not necessarily the only approach. In fact, the NECPA IPEC would be excited to entertain new models of engagement. However, the content for the summit should meet the following criteria:
-
Have clear objectives that are linked to the IPEC Core Competencies.
-
Allow for small team, interprofessional discussion.
-
Be inclusive of as many professions as possible (either by name or because of the general nature of the content). For a list of professions that attended the previous Summit, click HERE.
-
Be easily understood by facilitators from different professions. If the proposal is case-based, the author needs to maintain focus on the interprofessional issues relating to the case.
-
A facilitator guide must be part of the final content.
The NECPA IPEC is committed in supporting the grant awardee(s). This might include technical support and a small budget for other supplies. Any additional needs should be outlined in the proposal.
